dancing dots of steady measure

and partial rests to fill the staff

should I fill a canvas
in charcoal shades 
sharing awkward lines and strokes

could I chip at marble
to watch it crack 
falling ruined to the floor

once I wrote you notes
letters near finished 
lacking only me and you
evasive points, poor punctuation
leftover parts unmeant to be
